The bee, the witch, unravels all her hidden talents. Let us all get to know her.
Excursion’s meeting point is set the City Hall of Tzermiado in the Lassithi Plateau at 10:30 a.m.
After 30 minutes of walking, we will be taken to the outdoor area, where the honeycombs are located and where we will watch a presentation on the art of beekeeping.
There, I will explain in detail how the bee society is organized, what the bee casings are, what their role is in the hive and how honey, royal jelly, propolis, wax and honey’s various other by-products are produced.
Afterwards, we will move into the indoor area where the workshop is and with the help of the latest machinery, the standardization of the product is achieved in the most advanced way. We will also learn in detail with which piece of machinery the honey is extracted from the hive, how the separation of the products is achieved, how its standardization is achieved and finally how it’s stored.
Furthermore, we will taste various types of honey and various dishes. Finally, we will be taken to a traditional tavern, where we will enjoy traditional products.
I invite you to come and witness up close how this small insect through hard work and with its remarkable organisational skills can produce such a sweet product, a miracle of nature and collaboration.

Guests of all ages can participate as long as kids are accompanied by adults.
Please inform us of any allergies concerning bee stings, as people allergic to bees are not allowed to participate.
Long, light-coloured, comfortable clothing and closed shoes are required. Please do not wear any perfume.
