All the steps followed for the distillation of raki before your eyes!
No need to wear your formal clothes or even to have to do your hair. Just good mood and appetite for food, drink, singing.
The picturesque, historical, traditional village of Kroustas in Lassithi prefecture is located just 14 kilometres south of the prefecture’s capital, Agios Nikolaos, at an altitude of about 540 metres. You can drive and park your vehicle at the main parking lot.
The fun, the joy, the food and the mystery have just begun.
Together we will cut wood, light a fire, fill the cauldron, distill raki, drink, cook, eat, sing, dance and have a great time.
At this place, 4 generations back, from my grandfather and onwards, my family owns a legitimate, small, traditional raki distillery. Every year we have a feast. We distill raki or tsikoudia, the typical Cretan drink.
Since we do not sell raki, but produce it for ourselves, our family and our good friends, we maintain the traditional way of distillation and we use the methods we learned from our grandfather.
I invite you to join us and learn all the secrets of “the soul of Crete”, the excellent quality raki.
I wait for you at my place after 19:00
Please note that the driver of the car must not drink alcohol.
Guests are allowed from 18 years of age or older.
Comfortable clothes, preferably dark-colored, closed shoes.

We visited the distillery in the wonderfully traditional village of Kroustas a week ago. The experience was overall fantastic! Antonis, the owner, is a very pleasant host and he did everything to introduce us to the ancient distillation process. We ate (a lot), we drunk raki that we had just distilled, we sung, we danced and, between distillations, Antonis gave us a tour of the village! Will definitely do it again sometime in the future!
